These evil maggots below ate the roots of one of my fuschias, so I left them on the bird table I bet the blackie loved them.
Here is the poor fuschia which got chewed up.
For Christmas last year, or was it my birthday, Karen gave me this lovely old fashioned perambulator planter, and for Mother's day this year, she gave me geranium plants, so I've planted them in here with some Bellis daisies
Here is new life starting in one of the fuschias who made it through the winter
This nest was lying in the flower bed, it had obviously fallen out of the Vibirnum bush, which is a bit near a fence, I hope there wasn't any eggs in but I think it may have been a bit too early.
Well that's it for now folks I'll post up some more stuff maybe tomorrow, till then keep well
Thank you for visiting and please come back, Arlene, Tango and Ruby
Love your Pram planter, what a great thing to have in the garden. Don't you just love it when the perennials start to peek out of the ground and start to green up the garden.
ReplyDeleteYes Horst I think it is very pretty too, the only problem is that it is a bit shallow, so i'm limited to what I can plant, but I won't be stumped for ideas. I've got several Fuschias and it looks like they are starting to show green, Thanks for calling
Deleteand .... here i am at your blogspot! told you i was coming over! your spot was easy to find. i just followed the dog prints!

Hi Kirsten, lovely to see you here and thanks for taking the trouble. You obviously followed the right prints. LOL
DeleteThe planter is gorgeous and shame on those maggots. I didn't realize they ate plants. I think I watch too many of the crime scene investigation shows. lOl
ReplyDeleteOh yes Beth, they are from the Weevil beetles, and are lethal to fuschias, trouble is you can't see them as they lay their eggs in the soil and the maggots hatch and just munch away, and you know nothing till you realize the plant isn't shooting and it just lifts out with no roots.
DeleteThose birds should have a nice little feast, serves the maggots right to eat your plants. :)
ReplyDeleteHa, ha, couldn't agree more Robyn Thanks to all for calling.
DeleteI love the little pram Arlene so pretty suppose you could put anything in it, primroses and just follow the seasons. etc.Lovely fat maggots oh I'm glad they got their come-upence.But good to see the Fuschia's had recovered.
ReplyDeleteHugs Sheila and Wile-e xx
Thanks for calling Sheila, Yes I am a bit limited to plants in the pram, but primroses sound ideal. I've had to fleece my geraniums as we've been having some overnight frosts ! it's April on the south coast !! what is going on for heaven's sake.
