The weather has taken a turn back to grey and a bit colder, though not as bad as in some parts of the country, but definitely NOT summertime climate. Oh well, there's nothing can be done about it, and what can't be cured must be endured.
Been catching up with garden chores, I started to prune a Vibirnum bush, but when I finished it looked so awful, with bare stems and looking like an overgrown mop, so I sawed it down as far as I could, I shall have to wait till Martin [son in law] comes over to take it right down. The whole area here was overgrown, I'd ignored it hoping it would just go away, but of course it hasn't so I thought I'd try and do something about it, the photograph below shows the travesty of my poor Iceberg rose, who has struggled to bloom despite the f the Vibirnum almost completely enveloping it, and behind a green/gold Eunonymous behind it that has lost it's lustre a bit through lack of daylight.
There are Pine trees behind again and forming a canopy above, I don't want to cut the pine trees, as, apart from being quite a task, they're a haven for the birds, so I'll just have to keep on top of underneath, if that makes sense. :-)
I have to renovate the fence at the side, so I have plenty to do to keep me busy, not forgetting the fence preservative I bought about a month ago, and haven't yet got round to painting on yet.
While I was out in the garden the other day I got bitten round the ankles but some mozzies, I took a Piriton anti histamine as the itch was driving me crazy, I forgot that Piriton doesn't agree with me, I was so tired and totally out of sorts, sleeping for two hours yesterday afternoon and was still tired in the evening, it took till this morning for the effects to wear off,
I managed to get the lawns cut this evening, so we'll see what I can get done tomorrow.
Thank you for visiting and please come back, Arlene, Tango and Ruby
If you come on here looking for some mind-blowing conversation or profound words of wisdom, well you've come to the wrong place and will be disappointed. I'm just an ordinary bod who likes to share my day with anyone who cares to listen. Tales of my dogs, my garden, my family and happenings in my life that I feel might just be amusing....If you're happy with that, draw up a chair, light up a ciggie if you wish or have a cup of tea and make yourself at home.
What in the world is a mozzie? I am glad you are ok. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Beth, mozzie, is short for mosquito. LOL The itch is going
DeleteDidn't you do well you sure did hack that down. Hope your Iceburg Roses pick up, mine have gone for now.I am hoping they will come back later on as they did last year. Ouch little so and so's hope your ankle has recovered, and you feel better today.
ReplyDeleteHugs Sheila xx
Hi Sheila, I had a few roses along that patch, but they gradually all deteriorated, and the Iceberg is all that's left, despite being cut down several times, I'm afraid i've neglected that corner since the beech tree came down as I still have the stump, and tried hiding it with some shrubs, and have overdone it and not pruned the, I hope yours recovers too. and as I said to Beth, the itch has almost gone.
DeleteYou're busier than a bee. Lavender Oil keeps away mosquitos. You CANNOT PUT IT FULL strength on your skin, but putting it on your clothes will do it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that tip Gr Gran, I love the smell of Lavender, so it shouldn't be a problem.
