Experimenting

Hi all, first let me have a little moan about the weather....what else, As one of the dozens of weather presenters was about to give us a summary at lunchtime to-day, he mentioned what a lovely day it is !!!! I glanced out of the window, and thought am I on a UK channel here? he then corrected himself by saying the South coast has been having showers, SHOWERS !,        it's drizzled all day long, honestly I sometimes wonder what these people get paid for, We get the weather  for the West. i.e. Cornwall,Devon Somerset, even Wales, then the East, Sussex, Kent and often London, but seldom that little bit in the middle called Central Southern England on the Hampshire/Dorset border.
If it's raining in the West, and dry in the East, we have to just take pot luck.
Change of subject.
I thought I'd make a raisin loaf to-day, in the breadmaker of course.  I 'd bought the fruit the other day, Got the main ingredients in the pan and when I went to include the raisins..........oh dear I'd bought currants instead.  Think........, well I couldn't take out the other stuff so I've put in 40% sultanas and 60% currants and hope for the best. wish me luck.
Thank you for visiting and please come back, Arlene, Tango and Ruby

  1. I finished my fruit cakes yesterday. If you were close by we could swap one of your loaves for one of mine. I hope the sun is shining for you today. xx

    1. Hi Horst, I'm glad to say it turned out just fine, a bit more close textured as it was regular flour, but as it had honey in place of sugar, that could be why. it tasted just fine. Once upon a time I would never have altered a recipe, i'm getting adventurous in my old age. LOL take care and lovely to see you.XX

    1. Hi Sheila, bet your bottom dollar, it won't be many months before they're crying 'drought' LOL, reasonable here to-day, not sunny but dried the washing. Baking was OK, My daughter is coming up this evening, so I'll get an opinion. Hugs back. {{8}}

  4. Sometimes substitutions turn out good. I use honey instead of sugar too in some recipes.I'd love to get some rain. The guessers are so undependable.

  5. Sorry to be late getting back to you here, just get bogged down. I think I might try using honey more now.
    We're expecting heavy rain overnight to-night, I just hope it's gone by morning before I take the dogs out.
