To-day and yesterday

Thank you for visiting and please come back, Arlene, Tango and Ruby
Hi folks, nothing on the TV worth watching so I decided I would be sensible and turn it off !
Yesterday... nothing exciting, but then I don't suppose many of us lead very exciting lives, I took the dogs out early [ish] did some shopping , and popped into a new friend's home for a visit and to show her my holiday bits and bobs, we met several times on our dog walk and got friendly, she asked me to tell all about my holiday when I returned, We didn't have much time so I left the literature with her and will pick it up next week and finish off the USA trip, By the time I got home it was almost lunch time, so I had an early one, and wonder of wonders it was still not raining so I decided to do some garden catch up, One of the fence panels had got blown in by the wind and I struggled to straighten that up and fix it temporarily with some rope [no laughing] till son in law comes over it's a six foot panel, a bit beyond my 5' frame to manage. When I was struggling around with it, I noticed a hedgehog lying beside the concrete plinth, so I couldn't mess around too much in case I hurt him, he was gone next day, so I hope he's found a safer place to bed down. I see him some evening waddle down the path around 10.30 pm as I let the dogs out for their last ablutions. They are becoming very scarce, due to paving over of gardens, insecticide and loss of habitat in general, I do all I can to encourage all wildlife.
I also managed to prune back some bushes, all this wet weather has made everything grow like Pinnochio's nose. I was happy with my afternoon's work, but there is still lots to catch up on, if only the weather let's us.
took the dogs out for their evening constitutional, had supper and bed.
To-day, dogs fed and out as normal, and I decided it was time I bought the new curtains for the bedroom that Martin [son in law] had decorated a while back, the blue ones that were up were not a good match and almost every morning I'd have a little cuss and promise I'd change them. So, I sallied forth when the dogs were sorted, First I wanted to go to B&Q [the local DIY store] to get some Fence and shed preservative, Heaven only knows when i'll get the time to apply it, but I am an optimist. LOL made my way along to the curtain store, and noticed the road was closed with lots of yellow jackets and people, OH NO I'd forgotten the Olympic torch was coming through Christchurch at 10 am, I tried another route but no good, so I just had to wait till it passed, I could hear them cheering and I must say it sounded very jolly, I took this pic on my camera of them coming past me when it was over.

I managed to get to the curtain shop and chose my curtains. They had a sale and  I was so lucky that I managed to get a pair that matched the wallpaper beautifully, and reduced by about 70% though I've spent this afternoon shortening them. I've now got to handstitch the hems and they'll be hung in a couple of days. so that was the past couple of days logged. See what to-morrow brings.

    1. Wish I had your energy. It's very hot here, around 30C today. I went to the local hardware store and got some 5 foot Bamboo poles for the Tomato's. The tomato's just keep on growing. Looks like you had a great time in the USA.

    3. Hi Horst, We had that sort of heat when we visited the States, a bit of a shock to come back to our incessant rain and not too warm either, My tomatoes just won't ripen it's too cold, so good luck with yours and you know where to send the surplus.:-))

    1. Afraid the fence painting will have to wait for a while Sheila I just can't see much let up of this rain for a few days yet, at least not enough to do big time chores. I'll take a pic of the curtains when they're hung, gotta finish sewing them yet. Hugs and kind thoughts to you, don't forget the photo of dear Wile-e.
