I love Welshcakes, but having seen the amount of fat in them I will have to pass sadly, I am diabetic and don't think these will do me any good sadly :( I can drool over your pics though :):)
ReplyDeleteArlene, those Welsh Cakes sure sound good. I wish we could get pure lard these days. I've heard it's better for you than butter.

ReplyDelete@GrGran unfortunate that you can't get lard, but I didn't have any so used 90% butter and 10% Marg, they were fine, @ Horst the ingredients on the mixed spice jar is Cassia 40%, Ginger 9% the rest is made up of Coriander,Dill seed, Cloves and Nutmeg, but to be honest it's such a small amount of spice[1/4 teaspoon] you could make up your own.
Love old cookbooks. Have one of hubby's grandmothers. They do sound yummy.
ReplyDeleteSounds yummy and I even have currants in the freezer from my bushes. But what really impressed me was you just took a picture of the recipe to share it. What a great idea instead of writing it all out. I often don't share the recipes simply because I hate typing it all out. But then most of mine that I share are written in my recipe book and the hand writing is terrrible. Anyway thanks for sharing and giving me an idea. Have a wonderful weekend.
