I haven't been blogging very much lately as frankly I am disillusioned at the lack of response, now don't get me wrong I don't expect the world and his wife should be waiting with bated breath on my every post, , it is more of a bemusement as to why there are so few responses to posts, Some people are very lucky and get 20+ comments but up to about a year or so ago 50+ comments were common.
If you check out the ribbon on the top menu and click 'Next blog' many of them haven't posted for a year or more having obviously just given up as you'll notice there are fewer and fewer comments on their posts. Someone did say to me that they post on their blog for their own satisfaction, I take their point and there is every possibility that some simply look upon it as a personal diary.
Hmmm I like to communicate, I was a natural chatterer as a child and I do like feedback in any form.
Do other bloggers make up there minds to not look at a post by the title, or the author, or do they read and either can't think of anything to say or consider it not worthy of a comment. ? How do you get more to show an interest in your musings/ramblings? I've gone on to other blogs and left comments but no response ! :-( So I come back to the title is Face Book to blame, I think it possibly goes a long way to the lack of interest in The Blog. Shame as I enjoy blogging, and can often think of things I can post about, but when I look at my poor responses I think, 'why bother' I use FB but I find it not so friendly and intimate and cosy, and you can't do anything with it, blogger appeals to the side of me that loves to jazz or pretty things up with colour and pictures, FB is so drab in comparison, but I can see that I'm going to have to just put up with it, I'm just glad I didn't have to pay for the privilege of Blogging, now THAT would be a real blow.
Thank you for visiting and please come back, Arlene, Tango and Ruby
If you come on here looking for some mind-blowing conversation or profound words of wisdom, well you've come to the wrong place and will be disappointed. I'm just an ordinary bod who likes to share my day with anyone who cares to listen. Tales of my dogs, my garden, my family and happenings in my life that I feel might just be amusing....If you're happy with that, draw up a chair, light up a ciggie if you wish or have a cup of tea and make yourself at home.
Oh you poor soul here all by your lonesome. Well I just sent you a Facebook invite. I saw your comment at Chips. I only blog now about once a month at 2 different blogs, well actually 3 now. Lucky to get 20 comments on each blog for the whole month. In my best days of blogging I could only get just over 30. I just don't have to the time to get around and visit like I use too. So I blog for myself mostly as I will be doing books on them. Got a book started at Blub for God's Garden of Nature. Now that is a project that is taking me many hours. I do like Facebook as it's fast and I can quickly catch up with friends and family. I also have been busy with other photo projects on the internet. Just finished another photo book at Shutterfly and placed my order. Oh the hours I can spend formatting those books. Now I am getting Calendars ready for 2013. I remember the day when all I did on the computer was visit other bloggers till 4am. Then put a full days of work in outside. Just can't do it anymore. So do know that when I do visit I certainly enjoy your banter and little jokes and puzzles. Hope to see you also at FB. Hugs Carrie
ReplyDeleteHi Carrie, thanks for your reply, and I saw your invite on FB, though I'd made a pact with myself not to spend so much time on it, believe it or not I'm looking for interesting stuff, but not a lot of luck.
DeleteYou do well to get 20 comments, maybe I should do a monthly stint too :-) I try and get back to everyone who has responded to my posts, but I've realized that I don't get emails telling me that people have posted on their blogs so they sort of fall off the radar.
You are very busy Carrie, it's no wonder you don't get time to visit so often, so I'll forgive you LOL I'll pop into your FB page
I know some just do it for themselves, others don't have the time, and some to communicate with friends made online, but if they read the posts it would be nice to just say Hi if nothing else. I know some don't like the word verification as it can be real difficult to read, so they don't bother to comment. I know I turned my off as someone commented on mine as to that. Whenever you show you've posted on the dashboard I try to read and comment. I enjoy reading your posts.
ReplyDeleteThank you Terry and I do hope I don't sound like an old grump because I moan about no comments, I've tried saying I'm doing it just for myself but it doesn't work, I'd feel like I was talking to myself, and you know what they say about that, :-) I feel it's like trying to contact with friends and they don't answer the phone LOL I did turn off my word verification a long time ago as I found it a bit off-putting when I encountered it. As I mentioned to Carrie, I don't get any notifications of new posts very often, but I'll keep on posting, whcih reminds me I've got a couple of jokes to go on This'n'that.
DeleteI sure am glad you got rid of the word verification. I did and didn't even know I had it, at least it's supposed to be gone. I don't do FB because I was hacked.
ReplyDeleteSome days, I only get a few comments as well. But, I understand your concern. I somehow missed your posts, don't know why. I'll so better, God willing.
Chip was telling me he'd got hacked a couple of times on FB and my MacAfee warned me of a mal to-day. so I too will be pulling back from FB a little. I thank you for any comments you do leave, so thank you all three. much appreciated.
DeleteMy blogs are posted to facebook, otherwise I don't get on there. I think it is kind of silly.
ReplyDeleteI try and visit all of my followers that blog and try and comment on each new post. xx
I tried putting my blogs on FB Beth, but it didn't work, I don't know what I did wrong LOL
DeleteI know you visit all your followers and I admire you for it, I hope you don't stop visiting me, I do appreciate your comments. thank you XX
I have the same issues! I get very little feedback, and I, like you, would love to get other opinions aside from my own. I blog to leave something behind for my girls and granddaughters. I had my blog printed last year and now plan to do so annually. Please know that I do read your blog quite regularly and enjoy doing so. Honestly, I think the young mothers and 20 something's are the ones who get regular comments.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds a good idea to have you blog printed, my grand daughters read mine and usually pass on any tit bits of info to their mum. I've asked them to leave a comment, but they just don't , Thanks for commenting to-day, and you could be right about the younger set getting the attention. BUT afraid i can't turn the clock back :-(
