Hi folks, I've been keeping myself pretty busy since last week, as I'm afraid if I give myself time to stop and think I'll be in pieces for too long, and I have things to do.
Yesterday we had a committee meeting to sort out the details for our Saint Andrew's supper dance on 1st December, that took up part of the day from 11 am to 3 pm, good fun though, Home for tea walked Ruby fed her, got changed to go to dance club in the evening. I came home early as I felt Ruby had spent long enough in the car.
Out walking this am then met my younger daughter Karen for lunch. While we were browsing she had a phone call on her mobile, I heard her get a bit excited and had the biggest smile on her face. Craig just proposed to Jade, she almost squealed, that is her son and they are in Turkey for a holiday, yay, how lovely, she is a nice girl and they seem quite besotted about each other.

Back to the title of this post
We are celebrating Guy Fawkes on Monday at the dance club with fancy dress as usual The theme is Characters from books. Hmmm, After a lot of thought with yeahs and nays I've decided on Red Riding Hood. I don't believe in buying costume so thinking cap was on. I've got an old candlewick bedspread I'd bought for the dogs and hadn't used yet, so this afternoon I cut out the cape and hood, I'd bought some poppy red dye this morning, so when I've stitched the cape I'll dye it, that should be fun, Then to buy some white tights or leggings, and make an apron, look for an old skirt from the charity shop I can alter. a shopping basket I 'gained' from a supermarket or somewhere, which I will cover in crepe paper and fill with goodies for Grandma, and voilà, sorted ! Hopefully it will be good enough to send a photo.
Off to bed now. good night.
Thank you for visiting and please come back, Arlene, Tango and Ruby

DeleteThanks for the congrats I'll pass them on.
Thank you Arlean for you wonderful blog award. Oh I am so jeolous you are getting to dress up and go out. I use to do it every year for holloween here. But seems now when night time rolls around I don't feel like going out for the evening. I am thinking that I really do need to get out more as less work happening outside soon. I might take a class in town on something. Years ago I would drive into town for night classes even in the snow and it never bothered me. Or would go in earlier and spend some time with a friend beforehand. All I know is I need some shaking up. My brain is going numb again. I even remember years ago my lady friends would drive out here in the evening during winter and we would have a stitch and bitch get together. We would do crafts and drink a little wine and bitch. Now it seems there is always something that needs doing at the computer. Getting that sucked in feeling again. Ok my dear I do hope you are able to get your costume all together and do have a good time for me also. Have a most wonderful week and again thank you for the award. Hugs Carrie
ReplyDeleteHi Carrie, I just love that expression, 'stitch and bitch' brilliant. like a bit of that myself. LOL You mustn't let yourself stagnate, shake a leg as we say and get your get up and go, get up and going. It's too easy to let yourself just 'do it tomorrow' I'll let you see the costume when it's done.
DeleteThanks for dropping by. X
Hi Arlene! I came by way of Terry's blog. She's my sister so you might see us teasing each other a bit. Anyway, I decided to pop over and say HI. Sooooo HI :). I do hope you post pictures when you get little red riding hood all done. Sound like it will be great fun!
ReplyDeleteHi to you too Sherry, always room for new friends. I must drop by you too. I do love dressing up, and the cape is in the sink being dyed red, as it was a pink bedspread. LOL I have put on here fancy dress I've done in the past. will keep you all posted. do please come back.

DeleteHi, Arlene, just checking on you and saying that I hope you and Ruby are OK.
ReplyDeleteHi Gr Gran, I'm doing not too bad thanks, I have my moments, a bad one to-day, but they'll get less as time goes, and easier to cope with. The time was right to do what had to be done, and am now waiting to have his ashes returned to me. Thank you so much for asking. Ruby's still a tad quiet.
