When out walking with the dogs this morning I met a lady with her dog , as one does, I noticed she had a plastic bag full of blackberries, and I made a comment that they're just ripe for picking and I'd best get cracking before they all go. As she had them in a plastic bag and some of the juice had stained her trousers, I told her I use a plastic milk bottle to collect them as it holds a lot and if you should drop it they won't spill, Anyhow we got chatting about what she was going to do with the blackberries and she said that she would normally make blackberry and apple goodies but her apple tree hadn't borne any fruit this year. Apparently it's a nationwide problem this year due to the cold spring that nipped the blossom. I said that my apple tree was laden with apples, I asked her if she was local, and it turned out she lived just round the corner from me.,so said she was welcome to come round and pick all she wanted.
She came round in the afternoon and brought a bag of freshly picked Runner beans, , after picking her apples we chatted for a while and got on well, she said when she made her Apple and Blackberry jam she would drop me round a jar, Now then was that not a good exchange, One good turn and I got two back, that can't be bad now can it. Life can be so rewarding.
Thank you for visiting and please come back, Arlene, Tango and Ruby
If you come on here looking for some mind-blowing conversation or profound words of wisdom, well you've come to the wrong place and will be disappointed. I'm just an ordinary bod who likes to share my day with anyone who cares to listen. Tales of my dogs, my garden, my family and happenings in my life that I feel might just be amusing....If you're happy with that, draw up a chair, light up a ciggie if you wish or have a cup of tea and make yourself at home.
I love this story, you not only made a new friend but you are reaping benefits from it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Beth, I also made a new friend about three weeks ago, dog walking, and we have shared a couple of coffee mornings.
DeleteNow that was a good thing you both met. Not only does she get some nice apples but you also get some jam. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYes wasn't it Horst, i'm looking forward to the jam, I used to make it when the girls were small, but don't any more. maybe it will spur me on. Nice to see you
DeleteLovely Story Arlene it's funny the lady only lived round the corner to. Hope you both have a good friendship and swap goodies , sounds good to me.
